Final Reflections

                                     !!!Final Reflections!!!

Image result for real tornado  In this lesson I learned all about erosion and earth. There is a slow process and a fast process of how erosion affects the earth. For example, the fast process would be tornadoes, volcanoes, earthquakes tsunamis. Because those natural disasters immediately change the environment in just a few moments. The slow process is like fast moving rivers, waterfalls and lakes. They slowly chip away at the rocks by smoothing them out and  shapes the land around them.
Image result for wind erosion on rocks
as you see in this picture is was effected by wind

We also learned about wind erosion. Wind erosion by itself does not do much damage but if you get wind erosion and sand  together they chip away on objects and makes their shapes smoother.

  1. ‎Astronomy: who studies stars, planets, moons, comets and galaxies, as well as many other celestial objects either in Observational astronomy, in analyzing the data or in theoretical astronomy.

    2. geographers: are historically known as people who make maps, map making is actually the field         of study of cartography(greek word map).

   3. physicist: is a scientist trained to understand the interactions of matter and energy across the                physical universe.

Rapid vs Slow process

Rapid process vs Slow process

Rapid process: volcanos, earthquakes, landslide, tornado, title-wave, fire, cyclone and flash flood

Slow process: wind, stream,

Wind Erosion

Wind Erosion is caused when hot wind goes up and air comes to take its
place

!ROCKS!

!ROCKS!

Q: what effect will the freeze-thaw cycle have on our rock?

Method : step 1: make it in a ball
               step 2 :mix water
step 3 :put it in freezer

observations: it's outside was slimy and soft

"Wadi field Trip"

Wadi field Trip

As Mrs. McGrath said ,we walked into the Wadi not as 5th grade students, but as Earth scientist.I could not believe the Wadi as Dr.Bill said this was once where a big river was. I looked  around all I could see was a big dusty Crevice in the ground and I was in it. Dr.Bill also said that megalodons and basilosaurus lived in this biome. I could not picture a megalodon and basilosaurus swimming above me.

Experiment #1

Experiment 1

  1. what happens when water flows over the earth materials?
2.Will water affect the soil as it flows?

develop a hypothesis : I think the water will change the shape of the soil and the soil will harden

observation:At the start I saw that the water was making a small pool under the bucket then I saw that the water was making a split crevice in the ground from the pool down hill.

test 1

after

In all I think that water is strong force some times and can be slow and I think that water is amazing...stay........tune.....experiment..1..part..2...is...coming...up...next...on...Prescott's...Science...blog

experiment #2

experiment #2

1. how does the amount of water that flows threw the stream stream affect erosion and deposition

hypothesis:

2.-be an aquatic engineer --> can you manipulate the direction of water flow????

I see ,I think ,I wonder

  1. I see          :A big crack in the earth's crust
  2. I think       : there was a earthquake
  3. I wonder   :if people were killed
  1. I see        :A big crack again
  2. I think     :  the  man was exploring
  3. I wonder :if man was exploring to see the end of the big crack
  1. I see          :a weird rock
  2. I think       :it was made by water
  3. I wonder   :if it will fall over
  1. I see        :a volcano
  2. I think     :it was small
  3. I wonder :if it was a firework
  1. I see        :lava tuching water
  2. I think     :it is going to make obsidian
  3. I wonder :
  1. I see        :the wadi
  2. I think     :it was a dry river
  3. I wonder :what wadi means

experiment 1 part 2

experiment 1
part 2

hypothesis: The water will drop in the sand and  the sand will wash the sand away or in in the bucket

  • the water is eating the soil and spredding it.

  • the water is pushing the soil it to the sides

intro

I am professor Prescott I would like it be a as you guess I am a scientist who studies insects. I wont have many important jobs, like the study of the life cycle, behavior, and population dynamics of insects.I  love insects.I get so interested in bugs I would look at them for a long time.I have a picture too
